Lists
There are different ways to list information.
- UL: unordered list; will list items in bullet points
- OL: ordered list; will list items in numerical order
One can also make a definition list by using the dl element. When making a definition list, take note that dt element is for the term, while dd element is for the definition. For example:
- Bunny
- Athena's beige jellycat bunny
- Fluffy
- Lance's light gray jellycat bunny
- Minnie
- Mom's mini white jellycat bunny

Recalling Past Lessons
Lesson 1: HTML Tags
- !DOCTYPE html: indicates kind of html; code should start with this
- Tags
- start and end with < & >
- opening tags & closing tags (with slash)
- Section: part of the page defined by opening & closing tags. For example, everything between html opening and closing tags is called the html element.
Working with Text
- h1, h2, h3 elements: headings. make sure h1 is always main heading, sub-headings are h2, and so on.
- p elements: paragraph
- br elements: line break
- strong and em tags: to bold and italicize words
remember that p element is a block-level element. while the previously mentioned font formatting tags are inline elements.block-level elements cannot go inside inline elements, but the other variations (inline inside inline, block-level inside block-level, inline inside block-level) work hehe.
if you put 2 inline elements side by side in code, they'll appear beside each other. if you put 2 block-level elements side by side in code, they'll appear on top of each other/with a line brweak between them.
Lesson 3: Attributes, Links, and Images
- the a element is used to link to another page
- use the href attribute to specify the particular page something links to.
- the attribute is added inside the opening tag
- takes on the format of attribute="value"
- a tag can have more than one attribute
- the href attribute can link to a file/document on your own site, or a different website. for example, Jan 2026 Media or Jan 2026 Media
- you can also link to certain parts of the same page by using #identifiers
- to identify which part of the page is what, use the id attribute. you can use the id attribute with the heading tags; doesn't have to be the a tag
- then, when linking to that part of the page, use href attribute then indicate the #identifier (yes, with the hashtag)
- use the img element with the src attribute to insert images. don't directly link to images from other websites unless you have permission
- use alt and title attributes when inserting images. alt is what shows up when your image can't load and this is REQUIRED; title is what showed when you hover over the image. you can just indicate the totle for all of it.
- meta charset="utc=8" so that all characters display correctly
- indicate lang attribute in html tag
